Thoughts from today
the things I find on my block now and then.
"Kim, if you had your choice, would you rather be a poisonous snake or a nonpoisonous snake?
Poisonous, sir." (from "The Place of Dead Roads" by William Burroughs)
My sister asked how my neighbor was doing, and I assumed she meant this one, so I said the right answer, I thought. Then I realized she might've been talking about a completely different person, also a neighbor.
And I wonder if a lot of really elementary views of people in my life are misconstrued based on assumptions one makes.
Also I'm finally tentatively taking things slow... and I'd really like for this particular person to like me.
i do believe in survival after death. i believe that it's the only thing worth fighting for

"Well I'm real particular, you know. and patient enough. At least I hope I am. Cuz you know maybe you gotta wait a while, cuz maybe it's not so easy to find the right guy, the one guy you know.
I dont care what he does, as long as he loves me right. With his soul. Takes me for who I am.
Like Popeye says, I yam what I yam, right?" ("Night on Earth")

Independence Weekend
Happy Birthday to my amazing little brother Oliver, who graduated Oxford a few weeks ago and is about to start his new job at Nomura. I couldnt be prouder of him.
Also
Friday I was asked what I'm passionate about and didnt have a ready answer.
I hung out with old high school girl friends at my place and theirs in NJ, and hopefully get to see the whole group tomorrow for dinner and fireworks.
I got a much loved watch from an ex fixed (If you know me at all, you know I place a huge importance on watches. Given to me by the most important people, they always told me the right time), and realize I couldnt just buy a new strap so the outside was good again- because the inside stopped working that night I brought it home. So I have to wake up tomorrow and get a new battery. Fix my favorite watch up on the inside and out. And its half chain now, half leather (my first relationship gave me a watch that was a chain, and like the relationship it was too much. the second was leather and near the end of the relationship I started neglecting it, and it started wearing. So now it's both) Aside from getting a tattoo of a watch with a gemini sign on the face (the twin faces) on my right wrist that is also the SAG logo (two faces) for actors, that reads out the time as my birthdate 6 10, I think this is the less painful, wholesome way for me to know what time it is, and have it be super personal.

Listening to the postal service, and me always saying im fine reminds me of that lyric "your perfect verse is just a lie you tell yourself to help you get by"
I went and saw this broadway play tonight called "The Normal Heart" that was just incredible... made me cry uncontrollably, and also dealt with some issues that I think are pertinent today. Even though it was written in the 80's, it deals with AIDS, and gay marriage, and the issues of casual sex among the young people of New York City... the fact that gay marriage was just legalized Friday night, and there's been gay pride parades all weekend, made it connect even more with me. At one point the boyfriend says "I don't think a man isn't meant to love. I think men learn not to love.
Monday 7:54 EDIT: I just wanted to add also that some people will argue that gay men are more promiscuous and have more sex- in a culture that wouldnt support their quest for the institute of marriage, what kind of relationships were they supposed to have?
I had the strongest compulsion to just go out and be crazy last night.
