Just took medicine that's making me feel sick.

Only the young die young.
I've been listening to a lot of old music from old blog posts...
Here we go at it three years later
Will you help me to dream it all up again
Tired of the same song everyone's singing
Rather be lost with you instead
All I have, All I have, All I have
Well, you know it's yours
Every breathe, Every step, Every moment I'm looking for
All I have, All I have, All I have, Is yours
As you watch my heart break a little bit more

My hair's been looking something like this recently:

Be someone other's can count on.

Got two very different emails today. One was a really nice recommendation from someone at Parsons,
"It's my pleasure to write of note of recommendation for Andrea. Andrea is a shining example of a wonderful Parson graduate. Not only is she a talented graphic designer but also smart, sincere and enthusiastic, with wonderful communication skills. Andrea will be a welcomed addition to any design team. Andrea has so much to offer and I predict she's at the start of a very rewarding career in design."
the other was a not so nice one from an old friend pointing out that I can unreliable sometimes. It really struck me because it's not the first time someone's said that, but I really care about this buddy so I'm going to try hard to be someone other's can count on.

Drew a new DSR tee shirt design, on the subway. The quote's from the part in "the Last Unicorn" when the girl who's actually a unicorn is looking into King Haggard's eyes. The lyrics above the eyes are from a song... "this place is a prison, these people aren't your friends".

Who You Are

a pertinent quote from my favorite brother:
"distance yourself from painful things and do something that makes you happy"

In the vein of my last post about personas

"Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising,
There's nothing wrong with who you are"

I'm watching The Last Unicorn right now, for inspiration. Wondering if I'm the last one like me in the world! lol not really.
"I'd forgotten that men cannot see unicorns. If men no longer know what they're looking at, there might still be other unicorns out there."

I think about you all the time when I'm not working. So I work harder.

I once saw on someone's facebook, or xanga, or aim profile, a quote from supposedly Enders Game about whether or not people can play a role in life without becoming it. (Thinking about this while watching the movie Persona) I found the term for it today:
Enantiodromia.
For the growing child, the development of a viable social persona is a vital part of adapting to, and preparing for adult life in, the external social world. 'A strong ego relates to the outside world through a flexible persona. For Carl Jung 'the danger is that [people] become identical with their personas - the professor with his textbook, the tenor with his voice' Then there is this break- at some point- called Enantiodromia; the emergence of the repressed individuality from beneath the persona later in life.
Heraclitus says "cold things warm, warm things cool, wet things dry and parched things get wet."
Plato: "Everything arises in this way, opposites from their opposites."
So I suppose it makes sense that someday one will look in the mirror and have to re evaluate whether or not there's a mask between oneself and other people, it will either be shabbily continue (because you'll know its a sham and not your true self), or you will have to remake your mask into something more true to who you really are.

"Images of Divine Things"

Just working and surfin the net with Booty... This week was really nice. Doing work I like, making the money, hanging out. I really like the start of this year. :)

Almost all men, and those that seem to be very miserable, love life, because they cannot bear to lose sight of such a beautiful and lovely world. The ideas, that every moment whilst we live have a beauty that we take not distinct notice of, brings a pleasure that, when we come to the trial, we had rather live in much pain and misery than lose.

Tim Keller tonight was saying Animals don't make art, they're too practical. They just want to survive. Often artists struggle with that, but what we do is so important- because if people were just rational, we'd just buy the cheapest thing in the supermarket, instead of the products that are better designed, that hit us emotionally or because it's green. So if there's a way to do what you love and impact people on a deeper level, and you know what you want, then it's a real blessing to be able to make a living that way.
