Once, a traveler came to a British village at the foot of a mountain. He had his mind set on climbing it even though the villager's told him it was too high and he wasn't prepared. Overconfidently, he went anyway, one morning, without the right equipment, rations, etc. He wasn't even a third of the way up, till he had to turn back, admit defeat, and come back down the mountain. At the foot of the mountain, an old woman told him,
"if you'd gone up the way you're coming down, you would've come down the way you went up".
